2023 PKL Briefing: Unila FMIPA Chemistry Department Strengthens Students' Readiness for the Industrial World

The Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) Universitas Lampung (Unila) held an activity Field Work Practical Provision (PKL) for Class of 2023 students on Friday, 12 June 2026. This activity was carried out as an effort to prepare students before going directly into the industrial world through the PKL program. The event took place and was attended by lecturers from the Chemistry Department, FMIPA Unila, students participating in PKL, as well as resource persons with experience in the industrial and academic fields.

This activity was also attended by the Head of the Chemistry Department, FMIPA Unila,Prof. Dr. Mita Rilyanti, S.Si., M.Si, Secretary of the Chemistry Department, Dr. Dian Herasari, M.Sc., as well as other Chemistry Department lecturers. The event began with remarks from the Chief Executive, Radho Al Kausar, M.Si., who conveyed the importance of debriefing as initial provision for students in understanding ethics, work culture and readiness to face the industrial environment. Furthermore, the activity was officially opened by the Head of the Chemistry Department, Prof. Dr. Mita Rilyanti, S.Si., M.Si., who in her speech emphasized the importance of taking advantage of street vendors' opportunities to develop academic competencies and professional skills.

In the first session, participants received material fromFenti Visiamah, M.Sc., a representative from PT Charoen Pokphand Indonesia, with the theme Field Work Practices as Learning in Industry. In his presentation, he explained the picture of the world of work in industry, the importance of professional attitudes, adaptability, and how students can maximize their PKL experience as a learning tool that connects lecture theory with practice in the field. This material provides broader insight into industry expectations for internship students and prospective workers.

The second session was delivered by Hapin Afriyani, M.Si., who discussed conversion of courses in the process of implementing internships industrys. In this session, students were given an explanation regarding the mechanism for converting PKL activities into academic recognition, the administrative requirements that must be fulfilled, as well as the reporting stages that need to be carried out during and after the internship. It is hoped that this material can help students understand academic procedures so that the implementation of PKL can run more focused and in accordance with applicable regulations.

Through this briefing activity, the Chemistry Department, FMIPA, University of Lampung hopes that Class of 2023 students can carry out Field Work Practices more prepared, confident and professional. Apart from providing real work experience, PKL is also expected to be a means for students to develop skills, expand professional networks, and increase competitiveness as prospective chemistry graduates who are ready to face the world of work and industry.
