Towards an Informative Curriculum, Chemistry Department, FMIPA Unila Holds a Hybrid Scale Workshop
The Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), University of Lampung (Unila), once again reaffirmed its commitment to improving the quality of higher education through the implementation of a Curriculum Workshop for the Undergraduate (S1) Chemistry Study Program and the Master’s (Magister) Chemistry Study Program. This activity was held on Monday, June 23, 2025, in a hybrid format at the Student Excellent Center, Department of Chemistry FMIPA Unila, starting at 09:30 WIB until completion.
The event was officially opened by the Dean of FMIPA Unila, Dr. Eng. Heri Satria, M.Si., who emphasized in his remarks, “The curriculum must align with the Kampus Berdampak policy and meet the national higher education standards as a foundation for ensuring the quality of graduates. Curriculum development is very important; however, in the process, it also requires an adaptive, innovative development pattern based on Outcome-Based Education (OBE) learning outcomes,” he stated.
One of the main focuses of this activity was the collection and analysis of input from alumni and all workshop participants. The feedback covered the need for technical competencies (hard skills), non-technical skills (soft skills), work readiness, adaptability to technology, as well as the relevance of learning materials to current industry and research developments.
This workshop involved representatives from various levels, including lecturers, alumni, and graduate users from several strategic sectors. In addition, the event invited organizations from government institutions, industry, and research institutions. The participating organizations included:
- Himpunan Kimia Indonesia (HKI)
- RSIA Bunda Liwa Lampung Barat
- PTCPP Kalianda
- BBPOM di Bandar Lampung
- UPTD Laboratorium Lingkungan DLH Lampung
- Badan Riset dan Inovasi Nasional (BRIN)
- Institut Teknologi Sumatera (ITERA)
- PT CPI Lampung
The discussions proceeded effectively, with all participants actively contributing strategic perspectives on curriculum development. The integration of tracer study results, feedback from graduate users, and alumni’s empirical experiences served as an important foundation in formulating a more contextual, adaptive, and competitive curriculum.
Through this activity, the Department of Chemistry FMIPA Unila aims to develop a curriculum that not only meets national standards but is also globally oriented, supports the implementation of Kampus Berdampak, and fulfills both national and international accreditation criteria. The resulting curriculum is expected to produce graduates who are excellent, professional, adaptive, and highly competitive at both national and global levels.
